Based in Hong Kong and active since 2018, Garrett has gained nearly 19,000 followers for his sharp takes on the market\u2014often warning of short-term risks while staying bullish long term. His posts frequently attack weak exchange liquidity and call for reforms like stabilization funds to stop market crashes. <\/p>\n

But behind his public image lies a complicated past- exchange leadership roles, scandals, and now allegations of insider trading tied to the U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s announcements.<\/p>\n

From Exchange Exec to Scandal<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Garrett\u2019s career includes top roles at major exchanges. He was once COO at Huobi (now HTX) and later CEO of BitForex, which collapsed in a $56.5 million exit scam in 2024. Investigators linked him to the missing funds, though he denied involvement. <\/p>\n

He also worked in the IOTA and Shimmer ecosystems, contributing to projects like TanglePay<\/strong> (a wallet app) and IotaBee<\/strong> (a decentralized exchange). While these ventures showed his interest in Web3 infrastructure, they also drew scrutiny amid market manipulation claims. <\/p>\n

On October 11, 2025, the spotlight turned to Garrett after a market crash wiped out nearly $19 billion in crypto value.
